The recent unveiling of Sony’s decision to mandate the association of a PSN account with a Steam account for playing Helldivers 2 has triggered a barrage of critical feedback on the gaming platform. Numerous PC gamers have expressed discontentment with this new obligation.
For those unfamiliar with the present circumstances, Sony justified the new policy by citing technical complications during the game’s release, thereby discontinuing the previous “grace period” for account linking selection. Beginning on May 6, fresh Helldivers 2 players on Steam are obliged to sync their Steam account with a PlayStation Network account. As for existing Steam users, they are required to complete this procedure by May 30 and ensure successful account linkage by June 4.
In the aftermath of this announcement, Helldivers 2 has encountered a surge in negative reviews from disgruntled players regarding the compulsory account linking, despite the initial disclosure of this requirement on the game’s Steam product page.
