Forget the gingerbread houses; it’s time to get cozy with Chiikawa before he takes over the world one mind-bogglingly cute quest at a time!
Flashback to April 2022 when our beloved fluffball Chiikawa swooped in like a fluffy ninja, instantly plopping down in Fuji TV’s morning lineup like he pays rent. He was all like, “Hey fam, I want fame, but make it twice a week, please!” And just like that, he wormed his way into our Tuesdays and Fridays like the ultimate heart-thief puppy.
Is it just me, or did the stars align and give birth to Amasian TV, the treasure chest of anime goodness? Yes, they’re treating you to Chiikawa episodes for free! Who wouldn’t want to feast their eyes on the hilariously crazy shenanigans of their favorite fuzzball without shelling out a single yen?
And can we talk about the voice cast? We’re blessed with the magical talents of baby-faced actress Haruka Aoki , who kicks off her anime career like a boss! And the comedic duo of Makoto Tanaka as Hachiware? When they team up, it’s like watching dynamite and fireworks collide – explosive and oddly adorable! You can’t help but chuckle (and maybe choke down a few tears of joy!).

Brace yourselves for the cinematic juggernaut that obliterated the box office — Eiga Chiikawa: Ningyo no Shima no Himitsu ! That bad boy smashed the box office like a piñata filled with sweet, sweet cash, raking in a whopping 15 84 billion yen (that’s about $100 million, if you’re still counting in lunch money). Holy guacamole, that’s enough to buy a small island!
Did I just hear you whimper, “Is there ever enough Chiikawa in my life?” Well, my dear emotional wreck, the answer is a resounding YES! The original manga made its debut under the gloriously whimsical title Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu on X (that’s Twitter for you digital archaeologists) back in January 2020. Talk about a glow-up that deserves a standing ovation!
