The beloved slayer Geralt of Rivia is set to make a guest appearance in The Witcher 4, although indications suggest that he will not take center stage this time.
When The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt first hit the shelves almost ten years ago, it was evident that it was crafted to act as a grand finale. CD Projekt Red had even pointed out in a previous discussion with Polygon a couple of years prior to the game’s release that this would serve as the conclusion to Geralt’s saga. CEO Marcin Iwinski opined, “Through the third segment, we aim to bring closure to numerous storylines.” Executive producer John Mamais also hinted at the potentiality of incorporating Geralt in upcoming game ventures.
Hence, it might not come as a surprise that Doug Cockle, the voice performer of Geralt, divulged in a recent clip for Fall Damage (as relayed by PC Gamer) that The Witcher 4, or whatever name it ultimately adopts, will not center around the famed character. Cockle remarked, “The announcement for Witcher 4 has been made. I am unable to disclose much regarding it. What we do know is that Geralt will participate in the narrative, although his significance remains uncertain, and the focus of the game won’t revolve around Geralt. Hence, he won’t be the focal point this time. We have yet to discover who will be the central figure. I’m eagerly awaiting this revelation. I’m in the dark as well! I am yet to peruse the script, therefore could not reveal its content. Such is the reality, hence I could possibly be fabricating all of this. Nevertheless, that’s not the case. Or is it?”
