It appears that the second season of X-Men ’97 is underway, but Marvel’s streaming head has gently emphasized the time required to produce animated content.
Despite X-Men: The Animated Series wrapping up nearly three decades back, the recent popularity of X-Men ’97 indicates that fans remain enthusiastic about further adventures in that classic mutant universe. Marvel has acknowledged this demand and approved a second season even before the debut of the initial season. Yet, given the labor-intensive nature of animation, many individuals overlook the timeframe involved in bringing a script to the screen. In a recent discussion with ComicBook.com, Marvel’s streaming leader Brad Winderbaum provided an update on the advancement of X-Men ’97 season 2 to manage audience anticipations.
“We are currently in the animatic phase. As you may be aware, animation production is a lengthy process. Invincible Season 2 amusingly highlighted this point,” Winderbaum noted, alluding to a sequence from the Prime Video series that comically poked fun at the animation procedure. The team is committed to delivering high-quality content, but this requires time. Because the studio prefers to assess the success of the initial season before giving the green light to the next, there might be a slight delay. Luckily, we obtained approval prior to the first season airing, which could potentially shorten the waiting period. We appreciate your patience as we labor on the upcoming season.
