During my early teens, approximately at the age of 14, I recall presenting the notion of Star Wars Rebels to my acquaintance Manky Kev. I contended that the existing Star Wars video games predominantly centered around Jedis or aviators, the least captivating personas in the narrative. I proposed a game that enabled players to assume the role of a morally ambiguous character, akin to Han Solo before his allegiance with the rebellion. A sprawling, unrestricted gaming environment akin to GTA established within the Star Wars universe.
The recollection remains vivid of Manky Kev issuing me a stern ultimatum if I proceeded with my Star Wars discussions, leading to the abandonment of the concept. Nevertheless, it appears that Ubisoft may have garnered inspiration from me and fellow adolescents from the 90s who aspired to witness a fusion of Star Wars and GTA.
Following a trajectory of gaming advancement over the years and the distinctive Open World Formula™️ by Ubisoft, juxtaposing Star Wars Rebels with GTA may seem archaic. The essence of the game resonates more with the feel of Watch_Dogs and lacks the provision for seizing speeder bikes akin to the mechanics seen in GTA. Ubisoft accentuates the necessity of engaging with the speeder bike enhancement system, even if it necessitates players such as Kay Vess opting to acquire an improved vehicle through legitimate means rather than resorting to theft.
