PlayStation’s latest live-service shooter, Concord, has commenced its journey with underwhelming initial figures.
Although concurrent player statistics may not always serve as a pivotal metric for the success of solo games, they carry substantial importance for games designed around continuous updates and services. Deadlock, Valve’s fresh hero shooter, just revealed, accomplished a peak concurrent player count of 89,000 on SteamDB, marking a commendable milestone for an unreleased title. Conversely, Concord, another live-service hero shooter, encountered challenges in enticing players, with a mere 697 players actively engaged at its launch.
Regrettably, the figures continued to dwindle over the weekend, a period anticipated for heightened player involvement. Interestingly, Saturday witnessed a decline in player numbers as compared to Friday, and Sunday witnessed an even more pronounced decrease. The lackluster commencement statistics for Concord are particularly disheartening as they fall below the player counts for last year’s The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which reached a peak of 758 players at release and never surpassed that benchmark.
