Dragon Age: The Sentinel Troop (Honestly, I am not a fan of that title alteration) is on the verge of arrival. Despite initial concerns sparked by a somewhat perplexing debut trailer, the subsequent gameplay showcase alleviated many of our fears, but can it truly liberate itself from the looming shadow of Baldur’s Gate 3?
In my firm belief, it seems to have already accomplished that… to some extent. It’s challenging to discuss the new Dragon Age without thoughts drifting towards Larian’s exceptional RPG (in fact, I drew parallels between the two last year), yet the extensive previews and the public gameplay reveal indicate that we are witnessing a distinct form of RPG, one that is forging its own path.
In our firsthand experience with the game, Alex hinted that “Dragon Age: The Sentinel Troop is poised to offer a diverse experience to a wide audience.” This encapsulates the unconventional nature of the series quite effectively. Anyone asserting that Dragon Age has not progressed (or regressed) with each installment is either not being truthful or urgently needs to reevaluate not just Inquisition, but also Dragon Age 2 and Origins.
